Launching soon will be our exclusive ocean villas, situated on our privately owned island: Marianne Island, with two further projects with private villas on La Digue Island and Praslin Island.
The Seychelles are a byword for tropical beauty. The Seychelles is an archipelago located in the South-Western Indian Ocean. The total land area of Seychelles is 455 square kilometres, consisting of 115 islands; of which 76 are coralline and the remaining are granite. These are the only islands of granitic origin in the middle of an ocean in the world. The main part of the archipelago is situated between 4 and 5 degrees south of the equator at a longitude between 55 and 56 degrees east, allowing it to enjoy a favourable climate and The Seychelles is also situated in a zone free from cyclones.
The coralline islands are low lying, averaging 1.5 metres above sea level and seldom exceed 9 to 15 meters in height. Supplies of fresh water are scarce and settlements are small with rarely more than a hundred people. Many of these islands serve as rookeries for large bird population.
In contrast the granite islands rise from the sea to altitudes of 600 to 1000m. The topography is rugged with outcrops of huge boulders. Fresh water is provided by surface streams. Most islands are covered in luxuriant and verdant vegetation. White sandy beaches surrounding the islands are natural features of The Seychelles archipelago.
With a land area of 153 square kilometres the island of Mahé, the biggest island of the archipelago and the seat of the Government, constitutes about one-third of the total land area and about with 80% of the total population. The two other islands of major importance as to size and population are Praslin and La Digue; 33.6 km and 48 km from Mahé, respectively.
The population of Seychelles originates from French and British settlers, African plantation workers and traders from India, China and the Middle East, speaking Creole, but also English and French, especially in business. The population of The Seychelles stood at just over 81,000 at the end of the year 2002.
The Seychelles islands lie outside the cyclone belt but receive monsoon rains from November to February with the northwest trade winds. This hot (31°C) and humid season (90% relative humidity) gives way to a period of cooler weather from May to September though the temperature rarely falls below 23°C, and rougher seas when the trade winds blow from the southeast. Unlike some other offshore jurisdictions, Seychelles does not get ravaged by tropical cyclones and tornadoes, thus ensuring a constant operation of its communications and services networks.
The Seychelles is directly linked to most major destinations around the world including London, Paris, Munich, Rome, Dubai, Doha, Bangkok, Johannesburg and Singapore. These are served by respected airlines such as the National airline Air Seychelles renowned for it’s Creole spirit, The award winning Qatar and Emirates airlines and the pride of Africa Kenyan Airways.
